Assistant to President: "Azerbaijan is trying to build a new South Caucasus"

"Azerbaijan has created a new reality in the South Caucasus region by ending the military occupation of Armenia, which lasted for almost 30 years," said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at a reception dedicated to the results of the year by the Foreign Ministry, APA reports.

Aide to the President noted that today Azerbaijan is trying to establish a new South Caucasus region based on the principles and goals of regional cooperation in the region, the opening of communications, mutual respect for the territorial integrity of states.

He said that Azerbaijan is currently facing important issues such as the restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories and the return of IDPs. In this regard, he stressed that one of the biggest obstacles is the threat of mines, and Azerbaijan hopes for the serious support of the international community in eliminating this threat. Hikmet Hajiyev congratulated the participants on the New Year.
