"Azerbaijan is a country suffering from landmines. We know that Ottawa Convention bans use of anti-personnel mines and we seriously think of the Convention," said Assistant to Azerbaijani President Hikmet Hajiyev at the conference in Shusha, APA reports.
H. Hajiyev has noted that we want the South Caucasus to be a region cleared from mines: "But we want to see the Armenian side's joining the Convention, taking the step too, a unilateral step should not be taken in this issue. We are clearing mines, the other side is planting. Thousands of mines are detected in a small area."
