“The establishment of diplomatic relations with Türkiye and the opening of the border are indeed important for Armenia. Likewise, institutionalizing the peace achieved with Azerbaijan is important. Armenia is making sincere efforts in both directions,” Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said while commenting on the remarks of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
According to him, the full normalization of relations with Türkiye does not negatively affect the Armenia–Azerbaijan normalization process; on the contrary, it may turn out to have a positive impact.
“Regarding the unblocking of transport infrastructure, the main principles of this process were agreed upon at the peace summit held in Washington on August 8: territorial integrity, inviolability of borders, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity. Within this framework, the TRIPP route will connect the main part of Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan, link Armenia with other countries, and also connect regions with a broader geography through the territories of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia is interested in its prompt implementation and is actively working toward it,” he added.
