“International cooperation is the main column of Switzerland-Azerbaijan cooperation,” said Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan Muriel Peneveyre at a press conference on the presentation of the “New Swiss Cooperation Program for the South Caucasus in 2022-2025”, APA reports.
The ambassador noted that there is mutually beneficial cooperation between Baku and Bern in the non-oil sector. "The meeting of the Commission on Trade and Economic relations between Switzerland and Azerbaijan will be held in Baku in 2022. There are mutual investments and useful for both countries. Switzerland has investments in Azerbaijan in the non-oil sector and benefits both countries. The other aspect of our relations is relations among people and it is an important component. I can mention the European championship held in Baku last summer. Two matches of Switzerland took place in Baku and fans from Switzerland came to Baku.”
The foreign diplomat also stressed cooperation through the World Bank and International Monetary Fund: "Another aspect is cooperation at an academic level. Swiss government suggests scholarships. These scholarships allow researchers who graduated from universities to continue their research in our country. We have cooperation with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Two countries are in the same group in Breton Wurst Group. Switzerland highly appreciates cooperation with Azerbaijan in these groups and platforms. In 2019, We marked the 20th anniversary of Switzerland's international cooperation in Azerbaijan.”
The ambassador reminded Switzerland's support to Azerbaijan in the humanitarian field.
