Latvia highly appreciates the progress in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja during his speech at an event dedicated to Latvia's Independence Day, APA reports.
"Peaceful relations in the South Caucasus will open doors for future economic growth and prosperity, and we highly appreciate Azerbaijan's strategic role in ensuring stability in the region. Latvia, as a member state of the European Union, is ready to provide all necessary support to promote the peace process and strengthen our relations. For decades, Latvia and Azerbaijan have always had an active dialogue, including the Strategic Partnership Agreement. We have regular high-level political meetings, in particular, inter-parliamentary friendship groups, close cooperation between the state and private sectors and active cooperation in the work of the intergovernmental commission, close ties between the government and the private sectors. Effective areas of cooperation include the agricultural sector, green technologies and organic farming," the ambassador noted.
