“When speaking about Karabakh, it is impossible not to speak about cultural heritage as well. Because Karabakh has been, is and will remain the cultural heart of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani people,” Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev said in his address to members of the diplomatic corps visiting the Cultural Center in the city of Khankendi, APA’s correspondent dispateched to Karabakh reports.
“Unfortunately, during the years of occupation, Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage was subjected to destruction and bombardment. However, we are also restoring the cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people. All cultural heritage existing in Karabakh and other territories of Azerbaijan is Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage. It is protected by our legislation. At the same time, it is also protected under international law. We will continue to make additional efforts toward the restoration, reconstruction, and protection of cultural heritage,” Hikmet Hajiyev noted.
He also said that international cooperation and partnership among the cities of Karabakh are developing: “I am grateful to all our partners and friendly countries for establishing sister-city relations between your cities from various countries and the cities of Karabakh.
