WHO Director-General expresses gratitude to Azerbaijani President for His determination and assistance in the fight against COVID-19

"We at the World Health Organization appreciate your support. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Azerbaijan and the Government of Azerbaijan for their financial support of $ 5 million. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Your Excellency for your assistance to our organization in the amount of $ 5 million," said Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at the Summit of the NAM's Contact Group which held through videoconference under the motto "United against COVID-19" focused on the fight against coronavirus pandemic, APA reports.

Expressing gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the invitation to the event and the opportunity to address the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group, the Director-General noted that the WHO supports the Non-Aligned Movement and its member states in their fight against COVID-19.

"I know that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the Bandung Principles. Cooperation is very important for us so that countries can respond, fight COVID-19, and eliminate other such cases. It is clear that no country, regardless of its size, resources, and financial resources, can fight the pandemic alone," said Mr. Ghebreyesus.
