"Relations between the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Turkey are at the highest level of cooperation between the two countries," Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Shentop said in an interview with APA.
M. Shentop said that the previous leaders of the Turkish parliament also closely cooperated with the leadership of the Azerbaijani Parliament: “I also. We had regular contacts with the former Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Ogtay Asadov, whom we called "Ogtay Abi", and we continue our cooperation with the current Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova. If we say one nation, two states, national assemblies are formed from the representatives of the nation. We see our parliaments as manifestations of a nation in different geographies."
According to Mustafa Shentop, the first visit of all newly elected Speakers to the Parliament is usually to Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus: “You probably remember, it was a headline. When I was first elected, I had such a visit to brotherly Azerbaijan. When we are in Azerbaijan, we feel at home.”
