The issue of recognizing the independence of the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" ("NKR") regime was unexpectedly debated a few hours ago in the Canada Senate and rejected, APA reports.
It was noted that 53 senators voted against the draft resolution, 16 senators voted in favor, and 5 senators abstained.
The pro-Armenian senator called it a sad day for the Armenian people.
"This is a sad day for the Armenian people," pro-Armenian Senator of Canadian Senate from Quebec Leo Housakos wrote on Twitter.
