565 Azerbaijani citizens evacuated from quake-hit area of Türkiye

Work continues in the direction of identifying and providing assistance to the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who suffered from the earthquake in Türkiye, Azerbaijani MFA told APA.

Since the quake occurred, 565 Azerbaijani citizens and foreign citizens who are their immediate family members have been evacuated from the quake-hit area. Currently, the evacuation process continues.

The relevant instruction was given to the relevant state agencies in order to take relevant measures on providing medical, humanitarian and psychological assistance to our citizens and their family members, who were evacuated from the Republic of Türkiye

and placing those persons in temporary shelter centers if necessary.

Thousands of appeals received at hotline numbers were investigated, a list of Azerbaijani citizens who can not be heard out was prepared, and in order to obtain information about them, relevant work was carried out together with the relevant institutions of Türkiye. As a result, the locations of several Azerbaijani citizens were determined and they were contacted. Currently, there is no information about two Azerbaijani citizens and their investigation is underway.

As a result of search-rescue measures, so far, 10 Azerbaijani citizens have been confirmed dead as a result of the quake. One of them was buried in Türkiye, while the bodies of 9 people were sent to Azerbaijan with all the necessary procedures, accompanied by their relatives in Türkiye.

We express our deep condolences to the families and loved ones of our compatriots dies as a result of the quake. May God have mercy on them!
