On August 3, 2023, the repatriation of 16 Azerbaijani Republic citizens detained in the Amerna camp in the city of Jarablus, Syrian Arab Republic, was carried out, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA.
Three of the repatriated individuals are women, and thirteen are children. Among the children, one has lost both parents.
The Azerbaijani government has effectively conducted planned and coordinated actions, leading to the successful return of the mentioned individuals to their home country.
The realization of this process was supported by the Republic of Türkiye. Thus, the location, identity and citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan of the citizens whose repatriation is intended to be repatriated to the homeland have been determined, and their passage to the territory of the Republic of Türkiye has been ensured on the basis of consent.
The representatives of the relevant state institutions, which are part of the working group responsible for the repatriation of the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan from Iraq and Syria, were sent to the Republic of Türkiye for the return of those repatriates to their homeland.
The mentioned individuals underwent initial medical and psychological examinations, and necessary assistance was provided to them. Azerbaijani citizens were provided with "Certificate of Return to the Republic of Azerbaijan" and appropriate plane tickets by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Türkiye to facilitate their return to the country.
The Azerbaijani government plans to take all necessary measures for the reintegration and rehabilitation of the relevant individuals.
