The İstanbul-based Beşiktaş was summoned by the Control and Disciplinary Body of UEFA last week regarding charges first leveled against the club at the end of the 2010-11 season.
“Proceedings have also been opened against BeÅŸiktaÅŸ and two club officials in relation to match-fixing activities which are alleged to have taken place during the 2011 Turkish Cup final,” read an official statement posted on UEFA's website on June 10.
BeÅŸiktaÅŸ Chairman Fikret Orman went to Nyon last week to deliver his defense on the behalf of the club.
UEFA disciplinary board hasn't released any decision on former BeÅŸiktaÅŸ official Serdal Adalı and former coach Tayfur Havutçu yet. Two BeÅŸiktaÅŸ officials will face suspension for life if convicted.
UEFA investigator Miguel Palacios has also sought bans for Fenerbahçe officials Aziz Yıldırım, İlhan EkÅŸioÄŸlu, Åžekip MosturoÄŸlu, Ali Yıldırım, Cemil Turan for their role in the match-fixing scandal.
The decision came as a shock for Turkish football as two giant clubs will not be able to represent the country in European competitions.
