1/4 final stage of the boxing competitions at the III European Games held in Poland has started, APASport reports.
Murad Allahverdiyev was the first to enter the ring as part of the Azerbaijan national team on the way to the semi-finals.
The 80 kg athlete faced Hambardzum Hakobyan (Armenia). The meeting took place in conditions of obvious superiority of Azerbaijani boxer. Having completed all 3 rounds in his favor, Murad Allahverdiyev won with a score of 5:0 (30:26, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 30:27) and called the stage.
By reaching the semi-finals, he secured at least a bronze medal for himself. Allahverdiyev won a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games as he advanced to the "quadruple" in the competition. This was the first qualification of Azerbaijani boxers for the Olympics to be held in France.
