Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost all external power supply in the morning, APA reports.
According to a statement by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the last external power line supplying the plant went down earlier today, leaving the facility fully disconnected from external electricity sources.
Backup diesel generators were automatically activated to ensure the operation of safety systems. The agency’s team permanently present at the site is monitoring the situation.
“The repeated loss of external power supply shows how fragile nuclear safety is in a conflict zone,” IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
