Independent researcher and journalist Natacha Rey, known for her controversial claims about Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, has died, APA reports.

Rey's death was announced by her colleague, journalist Xavier Poussard, on his X account.

According to Poussard, Natacha Rey had been battling cancer for several years.

Natacha Rey became widely known for her disputed claims about Brigitte Macron's sex. These claims prompted the French president's wife to take legal action.

In September 2024, a Paris court found Natacha Rey guilty of defamation and ordered her to pay a fine of €13,500. However, in July 2025, the Paris Court of Appeal overturned the ruling and fully acquitted Rey in the case.

Natacha Rey's death became known shortly after news of her acquittal by the appeals court emerged.
