The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will consider a new $8.1 billion financing program for Ukraine on February 26, APA reports citing Reuters.

On February 19, IMF spokesperson Julie Kozak said at a briefing that the IMF team would submit the new program to the financial institution's Executive Board for consideration in the coming days.

For several years, Ukraine has been covering its budget deficit with loans and grants from Western partners. The IMF is one of Kyiv's main creditors. The IMF's Extended Fund Facility (EFF) is currently in effect for $15.6 billion. It is scheduled for 2023-2027, but Kyiv has requested a new one. Negotiations on the new program are already underway, and it is expected to amount to $8.1 billion over 48 months. However, to launch the program and receive further tranches under the current one, Ukraine must meet a number of conditions, including raising taxes and regularly accepting IMF audits during each reporting period.
