An attempt to illegally transport cigarettes without excise stamps and a large quantity of undeclared medicines from Georgia to Azerbaijan has been prevented, according to APA’s local bureau, Georgia’s Revenue Service announced the incident.
It was reported that, as part of export procedures, three trucks loaded with sugar were travelling from Georgia to Azerbaijan through the Red Bridge customs checkpoint.
During a detailed inspection of the vehicles, undeclared goods were found in one of them, including 100,000 packs of MILANO cigarettes and 1,114 units of various medicines.
The total value of the undeclared goods exceeded 1.06 million Georgian lari.
Georgia’s Finance Ministry Investigation Service is investigating the case.
