The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has begun consultations on a temporary ceasefire in the area of the damaged 330 kV backup power transmission line of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant, said Rafael Grossi, IAEA Director General, APA reports.
According to him, the line in question was damaged and out of service on January 2 as a result of military operations. Currently, the Zaporizhzhya NPP is dependent on only one operational 750 kV power line.
Grossi said that the IAEA has sent a proposal to Ukraine and Russia to establish a temporary ceasefire zone within a radius of approximately 10 kilometers from the 330 kV open switchgear of the Zaporizhzhya NPP.
The goal is to create conditions for Ukrainian specialists to carry out repair work safely.
The IAEA noted that the initial ceasefire agreement reached at the end of December allowed for the successful completion of the repair work.
