Georgia’s Representative to NATO, Irakli Beraia, has met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, APA’s local bureau reports, citing Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Georgian representative presented his credentials to the NATO Secretary General. During the meeting, cooperation between NATO and Georgia, as well as security issues, were discussed.
Beraia emphasized the importance of Georgia’s role in regional security and thanked the Secretary General for the Alliance’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Rutte congratulated Irakli Beraia on his appointment and wished him success in his activities.
It should be noted that Beraia was appointed as Georgia’s Representative to NATO in September last year. Prior to that, he held various positions, including Deputy Head of Georgia’s State Security Service and Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
