"The former chief of the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia, Grigol Liluashvili, has been detained," Georgia’s Prosecutor General Giorgi Qvarakidze said during a briefing, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, Liluashvili is accused of accepting large-scale bribes and of using funds obtained through patronage of “call centers” to finance the opposition.
The crimes committed carry a prison sentence ranging from 11 to 15 years.
Note that Liluashvili served as head of the State Security Service from October 2019 until April of this year.
