31 members of the European Parliament (EP) appealed to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell to suspend Georgia's candidacy status for the European Union (EU) and to review financial aid to Georgia, Petras Austrevicius, a member of the EP posted on his X account, APA's Georgia office reports.

The Parliament's members declared that the behavior of the Georgian officials and the Georgian Dream party contradicted the obligations of the candidate country.

"MEPs call the behaviour of the Georgian authorities and the leading party Georgian Dream as contrary to the obligations of an EU candidate country. Therefore MEPs request suspension of Georgia’s candidate status without any further progress in the accession process."
