Muhammad Rabbani, Managing Directorof the CAGE human rights protection NGO, a citizen of Great Britain was not allowed to the "Neocolonialism: human rights, peace and security" conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group at the Geneva office of the UN at the request of France, the Managing Directorof NGO posted about this on his X account, APA reports.

“It's been 6 hours since I landed at Geneve Aeroport. I'm still detained, obstructing me from speaking at conference at the Geneva office of the UN HQ. Border police, though professional, are as baffled as I am. Despite clearances obtained by my lawyers from a week prior, here I am,” Rabbani noted.

According to the information, French side pressured Switzerland to prevent Mr Rabbani, who came to Geneva to participate in the conference, from participating. As a result, the Swiss police detained the director of the NGO at the border faced with pressure from the French side. The Swiss police refuse to release him despite the legitimate demands of the human rights defender's lawyer.

“Restricting freedom of association of NGO's, especially at international forums like, is totally unacceptable. It's not just an intrusion; it's a tactic of disruption by state structures to suppress critical voices and shield themselves from accountability efforts,” – Rabbani stressed.

Note that, this is not France's efforts to stifle freedom of speech and thought only case in recent days. Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) reporter was sent to the French colony of New Caledonia on December 3 this year to cover the liberation movement of the local population. However, she was denied access to the territory at the airport allegedly because she did not have a visa. The Macron Administration has started slander campaign against employees of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) in the French media.
