Three armed individuals opened fire on police officers performing their official duties in front of the Yapı Kredi Plaza building in Istanbul, said Türkiye’s Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi on X, APA reports.
He announced that the three attackers were neutralized and that two police officers were slightly injured during the shooting.
The minister also noted that the identities of the attackers have been established: “It was determined that one of those who came to Istanbul in a rented vehicle from İzmit had links to a religious organization, while the other two terrorists were brothers, one of whom had connections to drugs.”

No one was present at the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul during the shooting, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, APA reports.
According to Istanbul Governor Davut Gul, two police officers sustained minor injuries, and efforts are underway to identify the attackers.
He noted that there are a number of infrastructure facilities in the area and did not rule out the possibility of sabotage.
The governor emphasized that the consulate has not been operating for more than two and a half years and that there were no diplomatic staff in the building.
Davut Gul stated that the three attackers arrived at the scene by car and were armed with assault rifles and pistols.
He added that one of the attackers was killed and two were captured injured.
