French police detained 440 people during high school student protests outside schools across the country, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced on BFMTV, APA reports.
"440 arrests were made throughout the country," the head of the department stated.
According to Nunez, approximately two-thirds of those arrested were taken into custody. The arrests were primarily related to property damage and attacks on law enforcement officers. Most of those arrested were minors.
The Interior Minister also reported that 48 law enforcement officers were injured during the unrest. Specifically, he said, there were seven recorded incidents of hydrochloric acid being thrown at law enforcement officers.
