There are opportunities to expand cooperation with Germany in diversifying Azerbaijan's economy, developing the non-oil industry, and attracting private investment, Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli said during his speech at a session of the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce held as part of the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026), APA reports.
He said that bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany have gained new momentum. Samad Bashirli noted the signing of the Joint Declaration on a Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between Azerbaijan and Germany, as well as a document on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Germany Business Council, during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Germany in July.
The Deputy Minister said that industrial cooperation and technology transfer are among the main areas of cooperation.
“We are interested in projects that, alongside the establishment of modern production facilities, enable the development of the skills necessary for their management and operation,” Bashirli emphasized.
According to him, other priority areas include energy cooperation and the efficient use of resources, as well as transport and logistics and access to regional markets.
Samad Bashirli invited German companies to participate in production and trade projects in Azerbaijan.
He noted that the Middle Corridor, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and the Port of Baku strengthen connectivity between Europe and Asia. The Alat Free Economic Zone and Azerbaijan's industrial parks also create conditions for investments close to logistics opportunities.
The Deputy Minister added that, along with the introduction of new technologies, the training of local personnel, vocational education, and the exchange of experience between enterprises should also be important components of joint projects.
“We are ready to work with German businesses and all interested partners on commercially viable projects,” Bashirli said.
