Azerbaijan to repatriate body of National Hero who died in Sweden

Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Work with Diaspora has taken under control the issue of repatriating the body of Shahin Taghiyev, an Azerbaijani National Hero who passed away in Malmö, the committee told APA.

It was noted that the documentation and other technical procedures are currently underway to bring the body to Azerbaijan.

“We are maintaining constant contact with the late hero’s family members regarding the matter,” the committee said.

Shahin Taghiyev, originally from Shusha, was born on February 3, 1949, in Tartar. He left Azerbaijan in 2001 and moved to Europe. Taghiyev passed away in Sweden after a prolonged illness while residing in a nursing home.
