The holding of COP29 in Azerbaijan is not coincidental. Azerbaijan hosts such international events at a high level. Even Armenia didn't object to this event being held in Azerbaijan", Nariman Pashayev, head of the department of ANAS Geography Institute of ANAS, doctor of geographical sciences told APA.
Nariman Pashayev noted that COP29 is the most important educational work on the matter of transition to "green energy": "First of all, let me say that today the European countries are the foremost supporters of the transition to 'green energy.' This is because, in European countries, all the beneficial reserves are already depleted. Also, there is global warming happening in the world. Global warming has its own ramifications. Therefore, most developed countries have set a goal for themselves that up to 2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) should be spent on the transition to 'green energy'."
According to the scientist most suitable areas for the transition to "green energy" in Azerbaijan are considered Garabagh and East Zangazur. Thus, in these regions, everything starts from scratch: "The discussion here revolves around "green construction", "green agriculture", "green transportation," in other words, zero emissions... Because this is the main requirement for the transition to "green energy". The use of emission-free technology is essential."
