COP29 faces important and at the same time complex challenges and their discussion, said Fatou Haidara, Deputy to Director General and Managing Director Global Partnerships and External Relations at UNIDO during panel discussion titled “From kind words to good deeds” at XI Global Baku Forum, APA reports.

“Industry and innovation are part of climate change. Industry can make thorough proposals to combat climate change. We need to strengthen the capacity of industrial organizations for the green transition,” – she noted.

Fatou Haidara reminded that this year Baku will host COP29 and “it faces important and complex issues, such as climate financing, transparency of steps taken in this direction, development of energy transition mechanisms, etc.”

In her speech, she said that cooperation with the private sector in the combat against climate change and their contribution to the greening of the industry should be encouraged.

“Strenghtening climate action is a must, increasing the voluntary contributions of each country is important. Accountability over public spending should be strengthened. Encouraging the expansion of the use of clean technologies is important,” – she noted.
