Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that a number of countries are prepared to deploy military forces to Ukraine, APA reports.

He said this while speaking with journalists,

Zelenskyy noted that Kyiv had received a signal from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Washington’s potential participation in Ukraine’s security guarantees, which in turn creates an opening for other countries to join the process.

“Before the meeting in Washington, the United States was not among Ukraine’s security guarantors. But now we have statements that they are ready to get involved,” Zelenskyy said.

“In my opinion, this was one of the main difficulties. Because if the U.S. did not coordinate Ukraine’s security guarantees, some of my European partners felt uncertainty. For example, one European country says: ‘We are ready to do this,’ and then presents a list of what exactly they are prepared to do. But after that comes a ‘but’ — if the U.S. is involved or coordinating,” he explained.

According to him, after receiving a positive signal from Trump and his team that the U.S. is ready to take part in security guarantees, Europeans have become more encouraged.

“And this creates an opportunity for other countries to also confirm their readiness to join. At present, the general staffs of the key countries have already begun discussing what they are prepared to do. And some states that were not previously visible are now beginning to appear,” the president added.

Zelenskyy stressed that it is not yet clear how many countries are willing to send troops.

What matters, he said, is that there are countries ready to provide Ukraine with security guarantees — including Japan and Australia.
