Merchants first gathered in front of the building of the Cabinet of Ministers, but started marching towards the presidential residence as Prime Minister Ovik Abramyan turned down their meeting proposal, APA reported citing Azatutyun.
Protestors demanded the cancellation of the new law on turnover tax.
Yerevan police chief Ashot Karapetyan, fearing the protest would turn into clash, and his deputy Valery Osipyan met with two persons leading the rally. After the meeting the two persons called on the protestors to continue peacefully.
It’s unclear if protestors’ demands were met.
