Yanukovych: “I have no intention to resign and flee the country”

Yanukovych, who was excited, underlined that he is a legitiate president of Ukraine: “Though my car was shot in Kiev yesterday, I have no intention to resign and flee the country. The international mediators negotiating with us have ensured my security.”

 

Calling the Ukrainian opposition “gangsters”, “fascists” and “robbers”, the president said that he would not hold talks with them nor sign any document.

 

“I intended to attend the congress of the deputies from Crimea and south-eastern regions of Ukraine, but I had no enough time, because I am regularly having contacts. I’m trying to protect those who are close to me. I intend to visit the south-eastern regions and meet electors,” said Yanukovych.

 

As for the resignation of Vladimir Rybak, Speaker of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, the president said that he was beaten by opposition supporters: “His car was shot when he came to me. He asked me to take him like Andriy Klyuyev, Head of the Presidential Administration. And they started to menace the judges of the Constitutional Court.”
