On December 4 at about midnight, a group of unidentified persons going in three cars attacked a checkpoint of the traffic police in the capital of Russia’s Caucasian republic of Chechnya. Then the wrongdoers broke into the republican House of the Press and a school. Law enforcers sealed off the buildings. During the operation to neutralise the gunmen, 10 officers were killed and another 28 wounded. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee said ten militants were destroyed in the operation.
