Verkhovna Rada recognizes jurisdiction of The Hague Tribunal to bring Russian officials to justice

Rada adopted a statement in tribunal for recognition of its jurisdiction concerning crimes against humanity and war crimes by the highest officials of Russia as well as leaders of terrorist organizations Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic which led to especially heavy consequences and massacre of the Ukrainian citizens.

According to the decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has to report immediately about it to the tribunal, and the State Office of Public Prosecutor–to ask tribunal to begin investigation of the corresponding crimes.

Also the Cabinet of Ministers and GPU are obliged to collect appropriate evidential base against participants «DNR», «LNR» and the Russian officials involved in the crimes committed in Ukraine.

The International Criminal Court in The Hague, which was established under Rome Statute signed in 1998, judges persons for grave crimes of international concern, namely genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes.
