According to him, the UN Yerevan Office is preparing an action plan to help the Armenian authorities in creating new jobs. For this purpose, the UN is studying the world experience in fight against poverty and unemployment: “We together with the Armenian government are trying to create favorable conditions for the development of small and medium business.”
According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the unemployment was 16.2% in the second quarter of 2013. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan announced that 32.5% of the population lives below the poverty line.
