Baku – APA. The Ukrainian Parliament has declared President Viktor Yanukovych unable to carry out his duties. APA reports quoting Ukrainian media that 328 voted for the decision.
According to the decision, early presidential elections in Ukraine have been scheduled for May 25.
In his interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said that he has not resigned or fled the country: “I have no intention to resign or flee the country. The international mediators negotiating with us have ensured my security.”
Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander Turchinov said that he held a phone conversation with Viktor Yanukovych at 14:00: “In the presence of several deputies Arseny Yatsenyuk spoke to him and called to resign. He agreed. But, later he refused to do it after consulting with some people. His press service has released the known video.”
At present, foreign ministers of Germany Poland, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Radoslaw Sikorski and Head of the French Foreign Ministry's Department for continental Europe Eric Fernie are at the Ukrainian Parliament.
