Ukrainian army, rebels say wonâ€™t pull back heavy weapons

“We can only begin withdrawing heavy weapons in the case of a ceasefire. If the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not stop firing, the Donetsk People’s Republic will not pull back its heavy weapons from the contact line,” said Basurin, APA reported citing RBK.

A similar statement came from the Ukrainian side. Speaker of the Council for National Security and Defence Andrei Lysenko said they are not ready to pull back heavy weapons while under fire.

“The Minsk agreement’s article 1, ceasefire, must be secured for us to pull back heavy weapons. 112 fires were shot in a day. This is no ceasefire. That’s why we’re not yet ready to remove heavy weapons,” he said.

Note that, a ceasefire agreement entered into force in Donbass on February 15. However, the sides have been accusing each other since of shattering the ceasefire.
