The statement came from Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council chief Andriy Parubiy, APA reports citing Ukrinform. According to him, at the council’s meeting, it was decided to put an end to Ukraine’s chairmanship of the CIS and quit the organization.
Earlier, Kiev had said it renounced its chairmanship of the CIS. Belorus has assumed this function. On April 25, Ukraine recalled its permanent representatives at the CIS coordinating institutes.
