The ambassador addressed the UN Security Council’s meeting on the situation in Ukraine, stating that this figure was confirmed by numerous independent observers and missions of international organizations in Ukraine.

“In the last meeting we said that Russia deployed 9 000 troops in Ukraine, while this figure is now 12 000. They have 235 tanks, 720 armored vehicles, 263 artillery systems. It'd be better if Russia explained it. What are they doing in sovereign territory of Ukraine? It would be much easier to solve the problem, if these forces were removed immediately,” he added.

Sergeev noted that Russia's representative to the United Nations is reiterating the tales like “revolution”, “Bandera”, “fascists”, “violations of the rights of Russian speaking people”, “anti-Semitism”, instead of speaking about it. He said that the Russian Ambassador didn’t offered condolences on civilians killed in Volnovakha and Mariupol: “Once again, I urge the Russian Federation to stop its pun. We have a lot of evidences about your direct and indirect aggression against Ukraine,” he stressed.
