“If there is a vacant place in the Group of Eight, Ukraine is ready to take it,” he said and thanked the government of Canada for its decision to grant 200 million U.S. dollars in aid to Ukraine.
Yatsenyuk recalled that he had earlier urged G7 countries to “build a new system of global security.”
He stressed that Ukraine hoped for the resumption of free trade zone talks with Canada suspended two years ago.
Harper pledged all possible assistance to the Ukrainian government.
