Ukrainian parliament recognizes Russia as ‘aggressor’ - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Baku – APA. Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada has recognized the Russian Federation as an aggressor country. 271 MPs voted in favor of the bill, APA reports citing

According to the bill, the separatist regimes in eastern Ukraine – the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic – were recognized as terrorist organizations. The bill was submitted over the signatures of Batkivshchyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko, Radical Party leader Oleg Lyashko, Samopomich (Self-Reliance) centrist party member Oleg Berezyuk and other deputies.

According to the bill, the Prime Minister was recommended to establish an authorized representative institution on taking measures against armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and elimination of the consequences. The Verkhovna Rada urged the world community to take all measures to prevent the military aggression against Ukraine and strengthen sanctions against Russia. Moreover, the bill envisages the call to provide military and political support for Ukraine and suspend Russia’s permanent membership in UN Security Council, as it vetoed all decisions in the Council on the situation in Donbass.

“I will sign the bill as soon as possible to send to relevant recipients”, said Verkhovna Rada speaker Volodymyr Groysman.
