Ukraine hands over suspected Chechen militant to Russia

Baku-APA. Ukraine has extradited to Russia a Chechen militant suspected of assaulting residents of one of the villages in the North Caucasus republic, Russian Prosecutor General's Office said Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Muhammed Migayev, who has been on an international wanted list since 2008, was detained in the city of Odessa in southern Ukraine in December.

Russian prosecutors sent a request to Ukraine on his extradition in January. Kiev gave consent on Migayev's extradition earlier this month.

Russia has also sought the extradition of Ukrainian ultranationalist Olexander Muzychko for war atrocities he has committed in Chechnya. However, Muzychko was shot and killed in Ukraine this week during a special police operation.

Earlier in March, Ukrainian nationalist leader Dmitry Yarosh was tried in absentia by a Russian court for allegedly imploring a wanted Chechen warlord Doku Umarov to carry out attacks against Russia.
