Ukraine’s Defense Minister: “Russia brought 6,000 troops into Crimea”

Baku. Shamil Alibeyli – APA. Russia has sent 700-member special-purpose group to Crimea, said a military resource in Sevastopol, APA reports quoting UNIAN.


Nikolai Filchenkov landing ship of the Russia’s Black Sea Fleet carried 700-member special-purpose group to Russia’s base in Sevastopol.

Ukraine’s acting Defence Minister Ihor Tenyukh said at the government's meeting that the Ukrainian army is on “high alert” in Crimea after Russia brought 6,000 troops into the border region.

Ihor Tenyukh said about 30 BTR-80 of Russia were replaced in Crimea, Russian servicemen reportedly surrounded the administrative buildings and military units.

The Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov appealed to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, for assistance in securing peace and stability in Crimea.

Russian Presidential Administration said they will not disregard Crimean Prime Minister Sergei Aksyonov's request addressed to President Vladimir Putin.
