Death toll hits 20 in Moscow Metro derailment - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED 3

Moscow’s deputy mayor Pyotr Biryukov said rescuers have so far extracted 12 bodies. According to him, employees of Emergency Medical Assistance and the Ministry of Emergency Situations are currently at the scene.

Up to sixteen people have been killed, over 149 have turned for medical assistance, 120 people have been hospitalized and up to 50 remain in critical condition, after several cars derailed underground in the Moscow Metro during Tuesday morning rush hour,APA reports quoting The Voice of Russia.

 

Head of Moscow transport department Maxim Liksutov has ruled out a terrorist attack as a possible cause of the accident.

 

Investigators are working at the site.

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin was informed about the accident.

Baku – APA. A rush-hour subway train derailed in Moscow Tuesday, killing 10 people and injuring at least 106, Russian emergency officials said, APA reports quoting Associated Press.

Baku – APA. According to preliminary data, at least three people have died in Moscow’s subway system after three cars derailed inside a tunnel during the morning rush hour, a source in the operative headquarters, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

 

"Three have died, 30 have been injured, of them 10 have been hospitalized," the source said.

 

The Moscow emergency services said that "three cars came off the rail but did not capsize" due to a drop in contact wire voltage.
