Responding to the question whether Russian troops can show up in Donetsk and Lugansk if Moscow calls presidential elections to be held in Ukraine on May 25 illegal, the Russian FM said: “We have no intention of sending troops anywhere”.
Sergei Lavrov suggested the journalist doesn’t call separatists in Donetsk and Lugansk “pro-Russian”.
“They don’t want to be called “pro-Russian” or “pro-American”. They want to be called Ukrainian. I understand the people who are trying to draw attention with their problems. Attempts were made to draw attention. But the army was ordered to fight them. Then these people wanted to determine their fate by themselves. Therefore, we respect the results of the referendum held there”, he stressed.
