Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. Georgia’s former president Mikhail Saakashvili has called Ukraine’s results at the Rio Olympics “disastrous,” expressing his discontent with the number of medals won by Ukrainian athletes, APA reported.
“We fell behind Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Cuba, Kenya, Jamaica and other countries that are smaller in size and less in potential than Ukraine. Georgia, which is ten times smaller, won almost the same number of medals as Ukraine,” he said.
Saakashvili stressed that the results of the Ukrainian national team do not reflect the tremendous sporting potential of Ukraine.
“Usually after such a failure, at least the minister of sports should resign. I don’t think it is going to happen,” he concluded.
