Baku-APATajik Minister of Defense Sherali Hayrulloyev said on Tuesday that Russia's military technical assistance to his country's Armed forces has reached 411 million U. S. dollars since 2005, APA reports quoting local media.

He made the statement following the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on the status and conditions of the Russian military base (RMB) on the territory of Tajikistan.

The agreement assumes extension of a dislocation of this largest overland military facility of Russia in Tajikistan until 2042 from its automatic prolongation each 5 years.

According to the minister, now about 500 Tajik citizens are trained free of charge in Russian military academies.

"Tajikistan, signing this agreement on RMB, in an exchange, receives help in the type of aircraft, means of communication, artilleries, anti-aircraft missile installations, and also small arms", the minister said without giving details.

Russia has about 4,000 troops in Tajikistan based in three cities, Dushanbe, the capital, and in the southern cities of Kulyab and Kurgan-Tube.

The agreement on extending the lease on base 201, Russia's biggest military deployment abroad, was signed on Oct. 5, 2012 by Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, but was only ratified by the lower parliament of Tajikstan on Tuesday.
