Russia political analyst: West will not go to a â€˜third world warâ€™

Political analyst, director general of the Russian Center for Political Conjuncture Sergei Mikheyev told APA wile commenting on the prospects of Russian-Western relations after Ukraine crisis.

The political analyst said the West will put pressure on Russia in different ways, for example, through Ukraine: “Such a scenario is possible. But in general, I think the West will not benefit from it, because, in my opinion, the US policy to ensure its dominance through pressure on other countries is not promising. In the long run it will create problems to the West and the United States. Really, it will be interesting for Europe to live in a state of threat from the East. Europe doesn’t show foresight and acts in accordance with the US policy. Sooner of later they will stumble along the way”.

Russia should re-establish its economy to get out of the situation.

“Unfortunately, the crisis in the relations with the West was necessary to understand it. Russia said over the years that they shouldn’t rely in the West, it is impossible to live only by selling oil and gas. However, some people didn’t hear it and considered that they would be able to survive selling resources. Now Russia should be engaged in diversification of its economy, as well as the creation of high-tech fields. Let Europe living with its problems. Russia doesn’t want to teach anyone how to live and impose its views as the USSR did in the past.”

The political analyst also commented on Russia’s decision regarding the closure of

"South Stream" project. He said this project became non-profitable under the terms of Europe. "In fact, Europe demanded Russia to build a pipeline at it own expense and give it to the European Union. Why do we have to present it to the European Union? I think that Europe put forward unacceptable demands. For example, a man tells his neighbor to build a house in which he will live as he will buy fruit from him. Such man can be called crazy, but Europe regards it as normal,” he said.
