Fire at military test site in south Russia localized - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

"Firefighters have localized the fire at the Ashuluk test site in the Astrakhan Region. Nobody was hurt. Evacuation of the personnel proved unnecessary," the Defense Ministry’s press-service said.


According to earlier reports, a rocket engine caught fire during routine work inside a warehouse of non-combat parts of missile targets. The Defense Ministry has dispatched a panel of inquiry to the scene of the incident.

Baku – APA. A huge explosion has struck an ammunition depot at a military firing range in southern Russia, APA reported citing RT.

 

The Defense Ministry said a rocket engine caught fire. Around 600 people have been evacuated.

 

The incident took place at Ashuluk testing range near the city of Astrakhan in southern Russia.

 

Rocket boosters used to launch spacecraft into low Earth orbit have caught fire in the depot. The engine is from an S-75 high-altitude air defense system.
