The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan is ready to sign a “roadmap” for Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union with a dissenting opinion. “Astana demands an explanation for the borders of the Customs Union due to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The issue of whereabouts of the borders of the Customs Union in Armenia remains open, because of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Therefore, we will sign the “roadmap” with a dissenting opinion.”
Armenia decided to join the Customs Union in September 2013.
