Rally on human rights protection starts in Yerevan

The New Armenia public salvation front, opposing the constitutional reforms, joined the rally organized by the Armenian National Committee.

Participants of the rally are moving toward the building of the Central Election Commission, because, the organizers say the rights of Armenian citizens were grossly violated during the recent referendum on constitutional reforms.

Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian said there are still political prisoners in Armenia. Levon Zurabyan, one of the leaders of the Armenian National Committee, stated that the Dec.6 referendum was a day of systemic violence.

Three persons is said to have been detained by the police prior to the demonstration in the Freedom Square.
